8x10 linocut print on 11x14 hand torn BFK Rives 100% cotton paper.
This print was commissioned by D.L. Mayfield who is working on a book about Day. When there’s a link to pre-order it I’ll let you know.
Dorothy Day didn’t enjoy the personality cult that sprang up around her and she certainly wouldn’t appreciate the sentimental and conservative portrayals by those who wish to see her canonized. She even literally said “Don’t call me a saint.” Oh well.
Saint Dorothy Day, pray for us.
The concept for the print was simple: to make her unsaintly and saintly at once because the binary category of saint or not a saint makes no sense anyway.
I'll do another print run or two. If it's out of stock make sure you hit that back in stock reminder button and it shouldn't be too long of a wait.
